High pressure in the region will continue to dominate the weather pattern into early next week. It will flatten a bit this weekend allowing for westerly winds to pick up.
This all sets the stage for critical fire weather across the region. Red Flag Warnings are in place for west central, southwest and central Montana Friday into Saturday due to the above average highs, extremely low humidity (8% - 17% range) and breezy westerly winds of 5-15mph with gusts up to 30mph.
Numerous Stage II fire restrictions have been issued for western Montana including the Lolo National Forest and Missoula, Ravalli & Mineral Counties. Click here for the latest restrictions.
