Good morning from a smoke-free, sunny, 61° Seattle! Sorry to rub it in… the smoke back home is just terrible, so this trip to see family was SO perfectly timed!
Unfortunately for western Montana, it looks like more of the same the next couple of days regarding the smoke, low visibility and poorer air quality. According to MT DEQ, as of Tuesday, “1.5 million acres have already burned across Washington and Oregon”. It’s these wildfires that are primarily responsible for Montana’s smoky skies of late” and will remain the biggest contributor to our smoky skies in the coming days. Of course, we have a handful of fires burning across Montana, too, which, due to the above average highs & low humidity recently, have expanded fairly quickly over the last day or two.
